Te Whanganui-a-Tara has a tendency to produce some of the grimiest music. Church of Goya continue to push their music in the extreme on Goya Is A Dead Man. The guitar aggression calls to mind elements from Amphetamine Reptile bands of the 90s like Cows and Halo of Flies, but this is unashamedly antipodean punk rock noise that owes more to the Toy Loves of the world than the Jesus Lizards. Highly recommended listening, especially alongside their sibling band, Mothers Dearest. Released on mono cassette by Razored Raw, the noisiest little label in Aotearoa.
